A BIT ABOUT BROOKE BUCHAN

A Journey Towards Visual Storytelling

As a kid, you could find me with my head buried in a book or my hands covered in paint. I wanted to be an artist, a writer, a nature-explorer, a chef, a poet! - anything that would let me create and explore. These natural tendencies for creativity and curiosity led me to where I am today.

I graduated from Colorado State University in 2020 with a Journalism and Media Communications degree. During my time there, I was a photojournalist for the award-winning student newspaper, The Rocky Mountain Collegian, and a Multimedia Specialist for the CSU School of Education. I gaining advanced writing, video production, photography, and visual storytelling skills, finding the most joy in visual storytelling.

I love to take an idea on paper and use photography and video to turn it into a detailed, visual story. I have planned, filmed, and produced visual stories for numerous projects, including a wine and cheese bistro in Downtown Fort Collins, the McCain Institute for International Leadership, and an interior design and woodworking company in Longmont, Colorado.

After I graduated, I pursued freelance photography and videography. I have shot senior portraits, engagement photos, and couple sessions - connected with a teaching-garden nonprofit, Big Green, and am currently finishing a contact videographer role with the study-abroad program, Semester at Sea. I love the connections these projects bring and the opportunity to create meaningful pieces of work.

While I hope to continue building my freelance career, my greater goal is to join a creative production team to produce collaborative videos and stories. I desire to work with other inspired and talented individuals and gain greater industry experience in video production. I also hope to continue pursing travel, creative hobbies, and becoming fluent in Spanish. Feel free to email me directly with any questions or freelance inquires.
